The Pause
Event | Social Media Campaign
Menopause is often misunderstood due to poor sex education and media stereotypes. It's important to raise awareness of menopause's effects on women, trans men, and non-binary individuals. The Pause is a traveling exhibit with interactive installations inspired by the menopausal experience. Guests can experience scenarios of a person having menopause and work together to overcome their symptoms.

MY ROLE
-
Illustrated the portraits in the Hall of Fame and rooms
-
Illustrated of the rooms
-
Assisted in the creation of the brand
The Pause uses the transgender symbol in the P. This shows that a lot of people are affected by menopause not only cisgender women. The color purple was used to show that The Pause represents everyone and not a specific group.
The Rooms
Hall of Fame
Room 1: Reborn Rachel
The Hall of Fame is a celebration of all members of The Pause Club. The Pause Club includes people who have experienced menopause but did not let the symptoms of menopause stand in their way. Portraits range from celebrities to everyday people who have bravely shared their menopause experience with a quote.
Rachel, a 52-year-old cisgender woman, recently just went through a divorce. She is on her first date with a guy and is experiencing menopause symptoms.
Symptoms: Reduced sex drive, vaginal dryness, and urinary incontinence
Goal: Find any items she needs during the date and drain the wine glass before it overflows.
Room 2: Accountant Adam
Room 3: Patient Poppy
Adam, a 24-year-old transgender man, started a new job but has not come out to his coworkers. Adam is trying to get through a day at work while experiencing menopause symptoms.
Symptoms: Hot flashes, chills, irregular bleeding, and brain fog
Goal: Help Adam complete his tasks, remember important information, and find him a pad if he
starts bleeding.
Poppy, a 30-year-old non-binary person, is at the doctor for the first time since their menopause started.
Symptoms: Weight gain and risk of Osteoporosis
Goal: Listen in on the doctor's conversation with Poppy and find items throughout the room to help them.
Room 4: Fatigued Fran
Room 5: Vacay Val
Fran, a 41-year-old cisgender woman, is a mom to three kids and is going through perimenopause.
Symptoms: Insomnia and brain fog
Goal: Sort through Fran’s mind (foam pit) and place her responsibilities (cubes) in the right spots. Next, help her fall asleep by pressing the buttons in the correct order to turn the lights off.
Val is a 27-year-old cisgender woman who is a cancer survivor. Chemotherapy can cause people to go into early menopause. Her friends do not know she is going through menopause.
Symptoms: Mood swings and dry skin
Goal: Fix her mood swings (represented by the weather) with items buried in the sand, and they will search for items to soothe her skin.
The Pause and Talk Room
The Pause and Talk Room is the final destination on their journey. Visitors are invited to write on the walls and describe what The Pause means to them after the experience.
