Coastal Imitation

Exhibition | Signage

Mary Edna Fraser blends modern dye technology with aerial and satellite photography to create unique batik art. Her work is inspired by coastal island patterns and communicates messages of conservation. This is a showcase of her work at the 912 Gallery at the Jepson Center in Savannah, GA.

Fraser creates batiks by taking pictures of the coastline from a plane she helps copilots and replicates the photos onto the batiks. The san serif represents how she has made the batiks more modern. The rounded edges show how she does not use sharp lines in her artwork.
